Stopped Buying & Started Baking My Own Waffles

Waffles went up to $3.00 for a box of 12. I, also, noticed that it took more portions to get full. We were slowly buying more boxes to make it through the month.  This meant anywhere from $3.00- $15.00 each trip to the store on waffles.  (Nuts to that..)

I spent $20.00 on a Waffle iron and started making them from scratch. The waffles are bigger and hardier. I can control what goes into the batter.  It takes less waffles made from real ingredients to get us full. The iron makes a bigger waffle but we only eat about a fourth of it.  My hypothesis is – we were eatting more commercial waffles because companies were using filler and cheap ingredients so that people would consume more of their product and thus spend more. (…that is a criminal waste of my hard earned money.)

I haven’t bought a commercial made waffle in two months now. It only costs me roughly .16 cents to make a large waffle.   I am actually taking the money I use to spend on waffles and stuffing it into my kid’s savings account. (…instead of in her tummy….)
